Chapter 2, Vitae Ritual

In book: Corceïs Culture

Corceïs can share deep and complex relationships with others, fueled by many emotions and circumstances, and with their relationships sharing many similarities to ours, so do certain rituals within their culture.

The Vitae Ritual happens when two corceïs wish to spend their lives by their romantic interest side as mates, corceïs can be mated with multiple individuals as well, it isn't unheard of trios to go through such a ritual.

Normally, the ritual only happens after years of an established relationship between the lovers, and such only happens when both want to be seen as mates formally, or, if they want to secure their rights.

Once they go through this ritual, legally anything obtained by the pair will belong to both, and in case they wish to break the ritual, all their belongings will be split unless an agreement is made.

Some rituals are arranged by families, though,  nowadays just practice is uncommon.

The ritual is normally hosted at temples, with both families attending it, there, an Offertor will lead the ritual (similar to a priest, Offertors are religious leaders that take on the ritual department), and there, both cors will recite their vows, promising to be by each others side even when Thämors separates them, after that, the Offertor will ring a bell between the pair to officialize their union, it is believed that once the bell rings, Zoïta will turn her eyes to the couple, and a single glance is enough to bless their union.

It is also common for the guests to gift the pair and throw seeds on their way.

While it isn't a norm, mated corceïs will often wear matching rings in their horns and/or stingers, usually made of gold, it can be thin, thick, or covered in previous gems and crystals, depending entirely on the couple's taste!

Corceïs that went through the Vitae Ritual will often call each other mates.
