Mariset Bay Prompt - Freya Fowl
The party never died in Mariset Bay, and this small club tucked away was no different. The roar of cheerful voices interspersed by the clinking of glasses filled the heavy atmosphere. Exhausted waiters and bartenders flitted about, squeezing through the tightly-packed crowd to their destinations. The club had drawn such a crowd this evening that everyone scarcely fit.
Suddenly, the lights dimmed, and the voices faded away. Everyone's eyes laid upon the stage in front of them, waiting.
"Gooood evening everyone!" called out an announcer as he bounced onto the stage. With a dramatic swish of his paw, he leaped away as soon as he'd appeared. “May I present our star for the evening -- Freya Fowl!"
A round of applause erupted just from the first pale paw stepping out from behind the curtain. The cor that emerged was striking. Her use of spells was tactful -- creating a flamboyance that filled the stage. Her golden eyes glimmered in the stage lighting; her sleek body feathered in emerald. The audience gasped as she trotted to the front of the stage. Magicked wings spread out from her shoulders, hidden behind her back. Seven fluffy tails trailed out behind her, drifting and elegant. In both pattern and elegance, her body was that of a peacock.
"Hello, my darlings!" She pranced about the stage as she spoke, narrowing her eyes to a sultry gaze. "How are we doing this evening?"
Another cheer resounded through the club, the flood of various answers turning into raucous noise.
"Good, good! Without further ado, let's get started, shall we?" The music picked up and everyone immediately fell silent, letting Freya begin her performance.
My love, my love, has gone from me.
So far away, so far from me.
Oh, my love, my love, my love!
Won't you ever notice me?
The song that started was that of a lonely woman, lamenting how she couldn't get the attention of the one she loved. Each word seemed to come straight from Freya’s mouth as she perfectly mouthed the words to the song. She swayed her body into dramatic, tragic positions to follow the lyrics. Tails twisted and wings fluttered as she bounced from one end of the stage to the other, howling out the lonesome words.
My love, my love, my love!
Won't you ever look at me?
Her performance concluded as she dropped into her back, paw held towards her face in a mournful pose. The crowd cheered and she rolled back upright, and she quieted them with a wave of her paw.
“Oh, thank you, thank you, darlings!” She smiled a sly grin, showing off teeth magicked into fierce gold. “But we've only gotten started! Who's ready for the next tune?”
The crowd gave an affirmative response, and her performance continued well into the night.

“You were wonderful this evening, Frey.”
The door creaked open behind Freya. She was in her dressing room, cleaning up for the evening. The cor that walked in was taller than her, a stocky white body peppered with orange and black scales, the tail of a koi fish behind him.
She shushed him with a wave of her paw, then went back to clearing up her makeup. “Oh, Mikio, you say that every time.”
Mikio tutted with an indignant frown. “I mean it this time! You were a delight to watch.”
He booped her with his snout playfully, which caused her to sign and shoo him away yet again.
“Let me at least finish first before you go teasing me.” She carefully removed her earrings and bangles, tucking them away for safekeeping.
“Fine, fine,” he huffed with a resigned shrug. She wasn't truly bothered, of course — this was the game they played every night. Mikio finished his bouncer business, then went to pester her as she dressed down. They'd been good friends for years (and sometimes lovers, though they always mutually agreed it was a terrible idea after the fact).
Freya finished her business as Mikio lounged in the chair behind her. She put away the last of her jewelry, then turned around to face him. “Come on, Mikio, walk me home like the gentleman you pretend to be.”
“Of course, milady.” He answered with a mischievous grin, and the two walked off into the night.
