Cocoa

Sienna wasn’t always a fan of sweet foods. In fact, she used to avidly avoid them - from cookies to cupcakes, and everything inbetween, she considered them more as potential cavities in the making instead of a nice meal.

However, that was before she had tried some of her friend’s specialty hot cocoa on a snowy day.

Any previous cocoa recipes she’d tried were either too watery, or too sweet. The sweeter kinds were usually made with white chocolate or loads of sugar to cover up the taste of skim milk or hot water, while the watery kinds were made without any kind of finesse - just cheaply made with powder.

Professionally made cocoa weren’t the best for her, either. They would be piled high with whipped cream, candy canes, and other sweets - all things she wasn’t interested in at all. It made things too overwhelming for her.

Her friend’s recipe, however, was perfect. When she had come to their house on a particularly snowy day, they already had two cups ready, and it would be rude if she didn’t try some. When she had a sip, she was surprised to taste a bittersweet, dark chocolate flavor, rather than something too sweet or too bland.

She finished her entire cup far sooner than she’d expected to. She had to bashfully ask for another, it was so good - and for the recipe to make some of her own. Perhaps she just didn’t know that she was a fan of dark chocolate instead… now, she’ll be trying out a few new dishes with it.
