Friends Decorating!

[CONTEXT: Maji invited over Ceru to her shop so they could help her set up for pride month, it's roughly midday and early june.]

“The sun was shining bright, but the streets looked even brighter,” Maji commented, turning their gaze to Cerulean “Thank you so much for your help today, I don’t think I could do this all by myself. The supplies arrived later than expected and in this weather I would be dyin’!” 

“Of course, anything for a friend of mine. Where should I start?” Cerulean replied, their blue colors and their coats ‘natural stars’ shined bright in the sun.

“I’ll start with putting up the ‘everyone’s welcome’ sign, do you mind putting up the actual flag next to the door?”

“Yeah, sounds great,” Ceru agreed, tossing over a plastic wrapped tarp to Maji then grabbing their own task “So, can I ask, are you actually celebrating pride or is this some marketing scheme to get people to come in?” 

Maji got on their hind legs with a bounce, perching themselves up on their store walls and opening the plastic wrapper with one tooth; They then began taking one corner of the tarp and hooking it to a pre-placed hook attached to the wall.

“Of course I’m celebrating pride, I’m bi myself!” Maji glared over at Ceru, then realizing by their cheeky smirk that it was just a jab to get her riled up, and she laughed “ This has always been a really important month for me. My family wasn’t the most ‘Let’s go lesbians!’ , they weren’t against it, but it was new to them you know? I want to give people a space to really be seen and loved that I had to look for.”

Ceru was putting the final pieces of double-sided tape to the glass. They took of the plastic cover and stuck the pre-made holder for the flimsy flag. They attached the flag to the perch, and took a step back and tapped it to make sure it was sturdy.

“ Of course yeah, I understand. It’s sweet that you care that much for others, even those you may not know. I wish I had some inspiring story like that one, but I was surrounded by members of the lgbtq+ when I was young and I had really supported parents,” He responded, walking over to Maji, who had just gotten down from the wall, and gave her a little nudge. “I finished, and I should get going. Thank you for telling me that about you, and please let me know if you need anymore help alright? We should hang out this month, I heard there were some pride themed events and I’d love to go with you?” 

Maji was a lil shocked, but full of giggles and smiles once she comprehended what Ceru offered.

“Thank you so much for your help, and thank YOU for listening. I’d love to hang out with you, and it would be nice to see what all the fliers around town have been about.“
