When Edie comes to town every other week to pick up groceries and chat with people in town, Cypress is at the top of the list of people to visit. Edie doesn't even need the things Cypress sells very often; he just likes the companionship and misses socializing with people more regularly. The two of them are similar in personality, and they get along very well.

Edie writes letters to his brother fairly frequently. He is certain that he makes his life sound much more exciting than it is, but he's delighted to get letters back which talk about everything Irrus has been up to.

While they don't live very far from each other, Edie almost never talks to his dad. He doesn't hear much from him, either. The two of them are both quiet people; Edie assumes that both of them are just waiting for the other to reach out first.
