Soledad was their family's golden child growing up, and quickly showed promise that encouraged them to join the scouts. For years, this was their dream: they pursued it tirelessly. They were inducted into the order immediately after getting out of school, and from there they dedcated themself to their training -- and to following the rules of the order -- so entirely that there was no other life outside of it for them. Soledad was the perfect scout. They had never wanted anything other than to be the best.

And then they met a denizen of the Wastelands named Caro, who changed everything for them. Over the course of more than a year, Soledad and Caro met many times. They forged a friendship, and then something else... and one day, when Soledad found Caro being attacked by their fellow scouts, they didn't think before leaping into action and fighting their own compatriots off. This was considered betrayal of the highest order by the scouts; Soledad was removed from their number in disgrace. They didn't even regret it.

Unable to make the trip down to the Wastes any longer, Soledad conspired with a criminal group to get Caro moved to Postinen. Now, the two of them live on the island.  Soledad gave up their greatest dream for this life, but at least they kept their heart.
